Dr. Gautam Kumar

Ph.D (Natural Products):National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), India, 2018.

M.Pharma (Medicinal Chemistry): Jamia Hamdard, Hamdard University, New Delhi, 2013.

B.Pharma: Jamia Hamdard, Hamdard University, New Delhi, 2011.

Gautam is involved in the synthesis of biologically active small molecules. Trehalose dimycolate (TDM) is virulent  glycolipid  within the cell wall of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and plays an importance role for survival of bacteria inside the mammalian cells. His work is focused on elucidating the biological functions of TDM by synthesizing TDM analogs exogenously added to macrophages. These anlaogs harbor trehalose sugar modified with linkers having fluorescence or Raman probes. His work will provide mycobacterial lipid tool kit to explore lipid-centric biological questions in infectious diseases.

In addition to that, he is also working on developing novel small molecule modulators of Myosin light chain kinase and related CaMK kinases.
